Mid Atlantic Brown Swiss Calf Sale a Success
Frederick, MD.--  A sunny day, new buyers, and an excellent line-up of “typey, quality calves” were on hand for the 35th annual Mid Atlantic Brown Swiss calf sale, held recently at the Frederick Fairgrounds, Frederick, MD.  There were 35 calves paraded through the sale ring for an average of $2310.  “Despite difficult economic times, the calf sale held its own, and the demand is there for Brown Swiss,” said Dennis Smith, one of the sale managers.  “We approach this sale every year with the same energy and enthusiasm we always do, and we do the best job possible.  We knew this year would be a little more challenging.”  This popular sale continues to produce show quality animals that are in the Bell ringer program, as well as All American nominations and winners.
“The demand for Swiss continues here on the east coast, as we saw with repeat buyers, but also we had a lot of new buyers,” said Cindy Warner, sale manager. She commented that there were buyers from 11 different states, and there was a great offering for all types of buyers—from show, to A.I., to investment potential.

Staying in the elite group of calves selling over $3000, and selling fourth high in the sale was, Top Acres Supreme Fiesta ET, a big and correct Spring yearling out of Top Acres Emory Falicia “4E-93”, and sired by Old Mill WDE Supreme.  “Fiesta” sold for $3650, and was the purchase of Tom and Bonnie Remsberg, Middletown, MD., and she was the consignment of Jeff Wolfe, New Oxford, PA.
