Maryland Brown Swiss Association Scholarship Program
The Maryland Brown Swiss Cattle Breeders’ Association is now accepting applications for their youth scholarship program. The program awarded its first scholarships in 2003 and recognizes youth that demonstrate promise of leadership, satisfactory scholastic rank, financial need and knowledge of the dairy industry.
Scholarships are offered to qualified 4-H and FFA youth from Maryland and surrounding states who have had a registered Brown Swiss as a project. The number of scholarships and monetary value depend on the continued support and generosity of the Brown Swiss Breeders and the Annual Mid-Atlantic Calf Sale. Previously, a $1000 and $500 scholarship have been presented annually at the Maryland Brown Swiss Breeders’ annual meeting.
Requirements include:
Available to all dairy youth who have been active members in the Maryland Brown Swiss Association for at least three years and are currently paid members.
Applicant must be a full time student (12 credits/semester minimum) enrolled in a two or four year college program. Program is not required to be in an agricultural related field.
Program is available to entering freshman through entering seniors.
Applicants are eligible to win a scholarship twice, with the maximum being $1500.
